Divisional Games Recap

All four of these games were close and entertaining, three of them decided by 3 points. Let's start off with the Saturday Games.
Game 1: Indianapolis Colts at Baltimore Ravens.
The Colts came into Baltimore as big underdogs, and in an offensive struggle, failed to score a touchdown. The Ravens were not much better on offense, as they could only muster up 6 points. Once again the Colt defence stepped up when they needed to and stopped Jamal Lewis and the running game. This was exactly why the Colts signed Adam Vinatieri in the off season, for games like this in the playoffs. Vinatieri kicked 5 field goals which gave the Colts the win, 15-6.
Game 2: Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints.
A fired up Eagle team comming off a huge win against the Giants appeared to be ready to be one game away from the Super Bowl, however an even more fired up team in the New Orleans Saints laid in their path. In a game filled with big plays including a 62-yard run by Brian Westbrook and a 75-yard pass from Jeff Garcia to Donte' Stallworth, the Saints managed to hold on to their lead thanks to the great running duo of Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush, 27-24.
Sunday Games
Game 1: Seattle Seahawks at Chicago Bears.
The Bears were heavy favorites comming into the game, but the defending NFC champs were not going down without a good fight. Seattle RB Shaun Alexander put his team on his back and had a good outing, going for 108 yards and 2 TD's on 26 carries. Bears RB Thomas Jones also had 2 TD's but was held to just 66 yards on 21 carries. But the player of the game was no doubt Bears K Robbie Gould because he tied the game up in regulation and also won the game in overtime for the Bears, 27-24.
Game 2: New England Patriots at San Diego Chargers.
The Patriots shocked the NFL MVP LaDainian Tomlinson and the Chargers during this hard faught game. Tom Brady over came three interceptions and led his team to victory. A huge 49-yard catch by Pats WR Reche Caldwell helped set up the game winning field goal. Charger kicker Nate Kaeding had a chance to send the game in overtime, but missed a 54-yard field goal in the closing seconds, 24-21.

Wild Card Weekend Recap
It was a very fun weekend with 2 close games and 2 blowouts. Let's take a look back at Saturday's games first.
Game 1: Kansas City Chiefs at Indianapolis Colts.
Many people (including myself) thought the Chiefs would run the ball well and often. That was not the case this time. The Colt defense did a great job stopping Larry Johnson and the Chief running game. Overall it was a sloppy game by both teams turning the ball over numerous times. However Peyton and his Colts overcame the turnovers and won convincingly, 23-8.
Game 2: Dallas Cowboys at Seattle Seahawks.
All Dallas had to do was beat the Detroit Lions and they would of had a home playoff game, but instead the had to go on the road to rainy Seattle. Both teams seemed to be evenly matched, but the rain and the crowd gave Seattle the upper hand. With 1:19 left in the game, Dallas QB Tony Romo botched the snap for the potential game winning field goal. The Seahawks got the ball back and ran down the clock, punted and knocked down a last chance hail mary by Romo. Seattle wins 21-20. Check out the botched snap video here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkiNdUHij5g
Sunday Games
Game 1: N.Y. Jets at New England Patroits.
This is what has been dubbed by the media as "Student vs Teacher" game. Jets head coach Eric Mangini was an assistant for Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. The Jets pulled an upset earlier in the year with a big win at New England where Mangini seemed to have gotten the best of Pats QB Tom Brady with his blitz packages. However Belichick thrives in the playoffs and was prepared this time. The Pats used a heavy dose of RB's Corey Dillion and Lawerence Maroney, and Tom Brady spread the ball around as usual. The Jets just could not seem to get it going the whole game as the Pats cruised along to the win 37-16.
Game 2: N.Y. Giants at Philadelphia Eagles.
Some Eagle fans thought that after QB Donavan McNabb went down with a torn ACL, their season was over. That is not what backup QB Jeff Garcia thought, he won 5 straight games after filling in for McNabb. As for the Giants, they have been hot and cold all season, and backed in the playoffs at a less than impressive 8-8. Both RB's Tiki Barber and Brian Westbrook had fantastic days. Barber has stated earlier in the year that this was his last season and would retire after. Despite playing for their teamate, the Giants kept it close all game but lost on a last second 38-yard field goal made by K David Akers 23-20.
